ICC Men’s T20 World Cup – Super 12 – Group 1 – Australia v West Indies

Shimron Hetmyer of the West Indies has been replaced in the team for the T20 World Cup in Australia by Shamarh Brooks because he missed his rescheduled flight, the team announced on Monday.

Hetmyer requested that his original trip be delayed for family reasons, which prevented him from missing the first of two T20 warm-up games against Australia on Wednesday.

The team’s capacity to prepare for this “global event” will not be jeopardized, director Jimmy Adams said. “It was made clear to him that if there were any further delays… we’d have no alternative but to replace him in the squad,” Adams said.

This week, Brooks will travel to Australia as soon as feasible, according to Adams.

On Wednesday at the Gold Coast and two days later in Brisbane at the Gabba, West Indies will face off against Australia. Play October 17, they take on Scotland in Hobart to open their World Cup campaign.
